Celebrated on April 23rd
The word ‘picnic’ originally stems back to 1794, exactly 100 years after ‘pique-nique’ first appeared in the French language. In the United States of America, National Picnic Day is celebrated on April 23. When the initial idea of a picnic was brought together, it was seen to be a fashionable social event whereby each guest would contribute by bringing food to the picnic.
After an ant has visited your picinc, it lays down a scent as it returns to the nest for the other ants to follow!
Do you miss kites, skipping and everything that brought a smile to your face back in the day? This is the perfect chance to rediscover your inner child. To avoid the midday heat ruining your experience, go early in the morning or late in the evening, and don’t forget to bring a beach umbrella for shade. Good old board games make up the last missing part of that idyllic picnic picture.
