Did you know: The first New Year’s Eve party in Times Square occurred in 1904, and was a celebration of The New York Times’s new headquarters, the Times Square official website states. At the time, the Times tower was the second-tallest building in Manhattan. The celebration involved a street festival that lasted all day, which ended in a show of fireworks. More than 200,000 people were in attendance.
